Pipeliner’s Clearbit Enrichment integration adds key sales data for better qualification and segmentation. Your accounts and contacts are automatically updated with Clearbit data during Contact & Account creation, and also when updating records. Data is matched to Pipeliner Accounts based on website and to Pipeliner Contacts based on email.

The integration will automatically add custom fields to both Account & Contact records.

PRE-REQUISITES: In order to use this integration, you will need to have a Pipeliner Cloud subscription and a Clearbit Enrichment subscription (www.clearbit.com). 

How to activate the Clearbit Enrichment integration in the Pipeliner Automation Hub

From the Admin Module, click on the Automation Hub Menu Item and find the Clearbit integration ⤵

Click on the Clearbit card and then click “Request” to request activation of the integration for your space ⤵

Clearbit Configuration Settings

Once you have clicked on Request, you will need to select from the following options in the Clearbit Integration "Configuration Settings" ⤵

  • Enrich Account Data on creation — Automatically enrich your Account records after creation. Enrichment based on the Account Website URL.
  • Enrich Account Data after update — Automatically enrich your Account records after an update. Enrichment based on the Account Website URL.
  • Enrich Contact Data on creation — Automatically enrich your Contact records after creation. Enrichment based on the Contact Email Address.
  • Enrich Contact Data after update — Automatically enrich your Contact records after an update. Enrichment based on the Contact Email Address.
  • Automatically create account — This option will create a new Account in Pipeliner if Account does not exist with Clearbit data.

Once you have selected your preferred settings, click on “Continue” to progress to authentication and click on “Authenticate” ⤵

Click on "New Authentication" ⤵

Use the suggested name or, particularly if you’re using more than one integration, change it to something more user-friendly e.g “Pipeliner ‹› Clearbit Integration” ⤵

You’ll need to login to your Clearbit account to access your API key to paste into the “Token” field https://dashboard.clearbit.com/api

Use the “Secret API key” and paste into the “Token” field then click on “Add”. You’ll receive an onscreen message that the authentication has been successful and that Clearbit is connected. Click on “Finish” ⤵

In the Automation Hub, the integration will now show as “Add Pending”. A member of our team will approve and, as soon as that is done, the integration will be running ⤵

How does it work?

Custom Fields

Once only, immediately after set up and approval, the integration will add new custom fields to your Pipeliner Accounts and Contacts.

The integration will then create and update data depending on the options you chose in the Configuration Settings.

Enrich Account Data on creation

If you have enabled this option, immediately after a new Account record is created and saved for the first time in Pipeliner, the integration will enrich the newly created record based on an exact match on the website URL.

NOTE: make sure you only enter the web address in the format www.pipelinersales.com or pipelinersales.com — i.e. don’t include http:// or add any specific page links after the main domain e.g. pipelinersales.com/pricing

The integration uses the following field mappings to update the Account record:

Clearbit data will not overwrite information that your users have already added into fields such as address or phone numbers. 

NOTE: the custom Clearbit fields are read-only to your users to prevent the data enriched by the integration being overwritten.

Enrich Account Data after update

When an existing Account record has been updated in Pipeliner, the integration will update the record based on a match on website URL and using the field mappings above.

NOTE: data in the custom Clearbit fields will be overwritten by the update but not any default Pipeliner fields that are already filled in.

Enrich Contact Data on creation

If you have enabled this option, immediately after a new Contact record is created and saved for the first time in Pipeliner, the integration will enrich the newly created record based on an exact match on the primary email address.

Enrich Contact Data after update

When an existing Contact record has been updated in Pipeliner, the integration will update the record based on a match on primary email address and using the field mappings above.

NOTE: data in the custom Clearbit fields will be overwritten by the update but not any default Pipeliner fields that are already filled in.

Automatically create account

The Account creation applies when you create or update Contacts. If you select this option, when you add a new Contact or update an existing one (depending on the configuration options you’ve selected), the integration will also create a new Account in Pipeliner if an Account with a matching company name does not already exist and will link the Contact to the new Account. The Account name and website will be mapped.

If an Account with the same company name already exists in Pipeliner, the Contact will be linked to it.
